Blogging challenge: My reflection on C&D thinking and mind mapping

powered by: Cool Text: Generador de Logotipos y Gráficos.

This post is about convergent vs. divergent thinking and my opinion about mind mapping. In addition I will compare Mindomo with MindMup 2.0 and tell you which tool is better in my opinion.

Let´s begin with convergent & divergent thinking.
These are two different ways to think, rather to make questions.

The convergent questions are the most simple, they require a small effort. These kind of questions allow us to reach a particular answer, an example for these questions is: What was the temperature range yesterday? Usually convergent questions start with "what", "who" and "when".

The opposite way to think is using the divergent questions. These will require a higher level of concentration and a bigger effort, because these questions make you think in many different ways or directions. This is an effective method to make creative ideas. The best way to stimulate divergent thinking is mind mapping. The result of this kind of questions is going to be a wide variety of answers. There will not be one correct answer. An example for divergent question is: Which are going to be the consequences of the Brexit in the future?

In my opinion convergent questions are easier and it will help you mostly. But the divergent questions are going to be required when a controversial issue appears.
My Mindomo about C&D thinking

My opinion about mind mapping:

First of all, do you know what a mind map is? According to the dictionary "it´s a graphical technique for visualizing connections between several ideas or pieces of information.[...] Mind mapping is used in note taking, brainstorming, problem solving, and project planning. Like other mapping techniques its purpose is to focus attention, and to capture and frame knowledge to facilitate sharing of ideas and concepts."

Now as you know what a Mind Map is, we can start:
Mindomo is a online platform, deweloped by exswap, which was programmed to create mind maps and save them in the cloud.

In my opinion making a mind map on a sheet of paper is easier than on a computer. You can see in the video, that it´s faster if you write it down on a paper. However, I will talk the pros and cons about Mindomo, I decide that the best way to do this is comparing Mindomo with other online mind map creator tool. In this case I will use Mindmup 2.0, which my physics teacher showed me.

Pros of Mindomo:

Pros of MindMup 2.0: (Mindomos cons.)

  • Compatible with goole drive
    • Google classroom
    • share like any other Google app.
After this I found Mindomo better, but I still prefer to write it down .

That´s all for today, do not miss the next post!
